Sovereign Roots is a community-led movement dedicated to cultivating self-determination, cultural connection, and cooperative economics through creative programming, shared resources, and grassroots collaboration. We’re building spaces where people don’t just show up — they belong.
The Fall Rush is one of many ways we bring our mission to life — by creating intentional moments for people to connect, share skills, discover opportunities, and grow together. This event marks the official launch of our membership program and an open invitation to anyone ready to build with purpose!
Bryant Shaw
Bryant is a community organizer, cultural curator, and co-founder of Sovereign Roots. A proud native of Tallahassee, his work bridges grassroots activism with creative expression to build spaces where Black identity, ownership, and collective power thrive. Through initiatives like The Fall Rush, Bryant continues to cultivate community that is rooted, intentional, and transformative.
Jessica Alegria
Jess is passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow. Her background in food systems, collective care, and psychology grounds her approach to serving with structure and soul. Whether behind the scenes or in the field, Jess shows up with intention, curiosity, and a deep love for her people. She believes that building self-confidence is key to unlocking our full potential—both as individuals and as a collective.

Step into the new season with intention, inspiration, and connection at The Fall Rush — a dynamic celebration welcoming students, professionals, creatives, and community members back into the rhythm of our city.
Held in the heart of Tallahassee at the vibrant Railroad Square Art District — perfectly positioned between FAMU and FSU — The Fall Rush provides a hub of creativity, culture, and collaboration. Designed for emerging leaders, creatives, and everyday visionaries aged 18 and up, this can't-miss evening invites attendees to engage, explore, expand their circles and connect with the city's creative energy.
What to expect:
-Artisan foods, pop-up vendors as well as student led and professional organizations
-Mini workshops and live demonstrations
-Hands-on art projects and creative showcases
-Games, music, and lively entertainment
-A Fall Rush Passport activity encouraging guests to visit booths, connect with organizations, and mingle with fellow attendees for chances to win prizes
